Naomi Matthews is a consultant solicitor with an in-depth understanding and expertise in data protection, freedom of information (FOIA), environmental information requests (EIR) and the regulation of investigatory powers act (RIPA).

With years of experience across the public and private sectors, she has acted as Data Protection Officer for multiple organisations, including a major local authority and has supported companies, schools and the third sector in building robust compliance frameworks.

Naomi guides clients through everything from policy updates and breach responses to complex subject access requests and privacy risk assessments. She has also led the implementation of AI governance, ensuring the policies and procedures are practical and up to date in an evolving area of law.

Naomi is nationally recognised for her work in surveillance law, particularly RIPA, and her training has helped many organisations prepare for successful inspections.

She brings real world insight to every project, drawing- on experience managing all areas of information governance including subject access requests, freedom of Information requests and environmental requests.

Naomi combines technical expertise with a pragmatic style. Clients value her as a safe pair of hands, someone who keeps projects on track and ensures that nothing is overlooked.

Naomi is member of the Upper Tribunal assigned to the Administrative Appeals Chamber (information Rights jurisdiction and first tier General Regulatory Chamber (information Rights Jurisdiction). The tribunal hears appeals relating to freedom of information and Data Protection.
