New warning about bogus NMC callers

20 December 2010

Nursing homes and care homes are still continuing to be targeted for personal data.

The NMC have received new reports from care homes and nursing homes who have been targeted by bogus callers requesting the names and PINs of nurses employed there, claiming to be from the NMC or the Care Quality Commission.

Phone calls requesting personal data are not the policy of either organisation, and the NMC have made it clear you should not volunteer any information to these scam callers. You are advised to take as many details from the caller as you can and send the details to the NMC, or alternatively refer the matter to local police.
