Marie Dancer
Managing Partner
Marie trained as a barrister and was called to the Bar in 1999. She then trained at Nelsons Solicitors where she obtained dual qualification as a solicitor in 2002. Marie then joined Richard Nelson LLP in 2003 where she has been a Partner since 2009 and the Managing Partner since 2015. She specialises in defending healthcare and education professionals in fitness to practise investigations before their regulatory bodies.
Marie is a highly regarded professional discipline lawyer who defends a variety of professionals in fitness to practise investigations in the GMC, NMC, GDC, GPhC, HCPC, GOC and the TRA. As well as fitness to practise hearings, she also regularly defends professionals in interim order hearings and registration appeals. She regularly prepares robust written representations defending allegations, which often results in matters not proceeding to full fitness to practise hearings. She also advises healthcare professionals on issues relating to their registration and has experience of appealing decisions by regulators to the High Court.
Marie was recently recognised as ‘the safest pair of hands’ in her professional disciplinary work in the Legal 500 2021.
