Mark Hopwell

Mark was called to the Bar as a barrister in 1997 and obtained dual qualification as a solicitor in 2001 after joining Cartwright King Solicitors’ fraud team. He spent over 15 years ranked in the Legal 500 as a top fraud lawyer but also covered many high profile and complex regulatory cases, as well as conducting advocacy on numerous general crime matters. This has given him and an impressive ‘all round’ knowledge and experience base.

Mark was a partner at Cartwright King leading the fraud, regulatory and crime teams nationally, culminating in becoming Regional Managing Director in 2017.

Mark joined Richard Nelson in 2020 to focus on the complementary areas of DBS appeals and referrals and removal of police cautions.

Helping people facing DBS sanctions requires far more than just a sharp legal mind. Dealing with a process that can devastate people’s careers and lives also requires an empathetic and understanding personal approach to helping people. Those who seek out Mark’s help always report that his calm, supportive manner genuinely helps them through the difficult process.

He is also one of the few solicitors in the country who specialises in the removal of police cautions, helping those facing professional, career or travel difficulties from old or minor brushes with the law, to return to a clean record.

What Others Say

Mark was a brilliant solicitor. I needed someone to understand what I was going through and help me and Mark was very understanding, polite and professional.

A client

Mark Hopwell was extremely helpful and he had a lot of experience in his field. He was very easy to understand and he always kept me informed with the progress of my case. He is the man who guided me through the dark tunnel to the edge of light. I would definitely recommend Richard Nelson to friends or family.
